Cherbourg Bakery, our flagship location, began in Columbus Ohio, in 2010 . We began with a salient mission, to offer the best gluten and nut free baked goods in a friendly, beautiful and welcoming environment. We believe that to make things better is to make them simpler. Our baked goods are made with minimally processed ingredients from as many local resources as we can muster. All of our products are made daily, by hand in small batches. We follow traditional baking methods and recipes. Our philosophy is rooted in the belief that the gift of food is an outpouring of love and attendance.
The name of our bakery comes from my favorite port-town, Cherbourg France. My sister and I made a last minute and serendipitous stop in Cherbourg, where we found things to be low-key, lovely and delicious. I later learned that my Grandfather helped to liberate Cherbourg in 1944 and my Grandmother and many others came to the US via Cherbourg. Cherbourg has been a beacon and safe-haven to many. It is my hope that our bakery offers this same sense of welcome, dependability and warmth.
